two bridge crane girders needing to be Shrink-Wrapped before heading any further down the highway. We had the opportunity to lend a helping hand to get them recovered--due to time constraints we tarped them--and on their way to Grand Coulee, WA, where they would be installed in the hydro facility there. The girders are manufactured by G&G Steel of Russellville, AL and were delivered to BCI Construction USA, Inc. at the US Bureau of Reclamation, Grand Coulee, WA, site.

A Warmer Welcome to North Dakota than the Weather Offered!

75 ft. long crane girder with catwalk bound for Grand Coulee, WA.
Second of two 70 ton crane girders needed for Bureau of Reclamation project.
Crane girders are tarped & ready for delivery to the BCI Construction site in Grand Coulee, WA.

So…we got a call from Grand Coulee, WA and then from Russellville, AL, regarding these two bridge crane girders needing to be Shrink-Wrapped before heading any further down the highway. We had the opportunity to lend a helping hand to get them recovered–due to time constraints we tarped them–and on their way to Grand Coulee, WA, where they would be installed in the hydro facility there. The girders are manufactured by G&G Steel of Russellville, AL and were delivered to BCI Construction USA, Inc. at the US Bureau of Reclamation, Grand Coulee, WA, site.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to help out and we weren’t the only ones involved in extending the warm welcome to North Dakota. TRS Industries of Fargo, ND had the log tarps and straps necessary for us to complete the rush job for G&G Steel and their customer BCI Construction. We also made contact with Labor Masters of Fargo, to secure additional hands to help get the shipment back on the road ASAP. Everyone there was very helpful, especially Ian, who was a great help in securing two additional laborers for us on very, very short notice; 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘴 𝘑𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘴 & 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯…𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘶𝘺𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘢 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘫𝘰𝘣!

And last but certainly not least, Carson at the Red River Valley Fair grounds was able to offer us the necessary indoor heated space, on the -22 degree North Dakota winter day, in just a matter of minutes on the phone and a little paperwork. We were prepared to do this outside in the cold and wind but we sure were glad when we got the call that we had an indoor space to get ‘er done; thanks Carson!

I am happy to say that we had both units all wrapped up by 5:30PM and on the road the next morning at first light. Thanks BCI Construction and G&G Steel, for thinking of us and giving us a call, and for everyone else who had a hand in getting this project successfully completed. I figure it’s our way of saying welcome to North Dakota…!
